Growing up I remember all of the village women in my life would gather together to pick the beautiful ripe blueberries, strawberries, apples, peaches, etc, then we would all travel back to my Nanna's kitchen in Maine where we would all spend many a day's cooking and canning our harvest for our families and community to enjoy. At my Nanna's knee I remember watching her as she added a pinch of this and a smidgeon of that. My sisters and brother with so much excitement would anticipate this wonderful time of year in knowing we would soon be enjoying our favorite jams and jellies. I thought it was time to bring back these recipes with a twist for all to enjoy the same excitement that I did while growing up! All of my ingredients are from local farms or purveyors of "Think and Shop Local" USA whenever possible to continue that rich sense of community where we all become that village again, love one another, care for one another, and showcase each other's bountiful harvest. Cheers! Miss Phannie and Phinn
Major Phinn is a great historian and the Civil War/Gettysburg battle is his passion. To live here in Gettysburg, PA and to celebrate "local" is a dream come true for us.. To honor this iconic battle and lovely historic town, you will see that our labels correlate with epic figures from the battle, connecting favorite tastes to their names. Did you know that apple pie was Abe Lincoln's favorite desert? Or to honor Dan Sickles Peach Orchard because without him we would not have our beautifully preserved battlefield.
